German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has labeled the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as “intolerable and worsening”, urging an end to the forced displacement of Palestinians amid Israel’s renewed military offensive.
Speaking in Brussels, Wadephul reaffirmed Germany’s opposition to any direct or indirect expulsion of Palestinians, stating that he had conveyed this stance to Israeli officials during his recent diplomatic visit.
Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement on March 18, resuming indiscriminate airstrikes that have killed hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children.
The death toll has reached at least 3,427, with 9,647 wounded, according to medical sources. In the last 24 hours alone, Gaza hospitals received the bodies of 87 slain Palestinians and 290 injured civilians.
Since October 2023, Israel’s offensive has led to the deaths of 53,573 Palestinians, with 121,688 wounded. Additionally, at least 10,000 people remain missing, presumed dead under rubble.
Nearly two million displaced Palestinians have been forced into the densely packed city of Rafah, marking the largest forced exodus since the 1948 Nakba, as medical and humanitarian aid remains blocked.
